FAQ’s
The most important thing is to wear something comfortable, which allows you to move easily. Of course, you’ll also want to select comfortable shoes. We suggest leather-sole shoes for gentlemen, and a shoe with a back for ladies (a smooth sole will allow you to slide on the floor). Athletic shoes do NOT work well on the ballroom floor because they stick, which will make it difficult to move your feet.
Group classes are $15/person or $30/couple for 1 hour of group instruction.
Introductory private lesson for a First-time individual/couple is $30 for two 1/2 hours of instruction.
Private Lessons are $117 per lesson, or purchase fifty lessons and get five lessons free. Lessons are 50 minutes and can include up to 5 participants.

You are welcome to register in advance, but it’s not required. If you see a class or Social Dance on our calendar, you are welcome to register online and then pay at the door. For private lessons, it’s best to schedule your lesson in advance and discuss your dance style and goals ahead of time. Arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the class or lesson to allow us to begin on time.
Absolutely Not! We welcome singles and couples at Modern Steps School of Dance of Naples. If you come as a single student, your dance instructor will be your partner for private lessons. Our group classes and Social Dances will provide plenty of opportunities to meet and dance with other dance students with the same interests and goals.

When deciding on what dance to learn first, it’s often helpful to decide if you prefer a smooth or rhythmic style of music. Love Rhythmn? Both the Rumba and Hustle are good dances for beginners. Love Smooth? Both the Nightclub Slow and Waltz are nice dances for beginners.
The physical, mental, and emotional health benefits of dancing are endless. With regular dancing, many people report an improved condition of their heart and lungs resulting in increased aerobic fitness and improved muscle tone and strength resulting in better posture and balance. Dancing is a weight-bearing exercise which offers the benefits of weight management and stronger bones. So Yes, Dance for Your Health!
